What is Mesothelioma?
Mesothelioma is a form of cancer associated with asbestos and exposure to asbestos dust. The cancer affects either the lining (pleura) of the lung (pleural mesothelioma) or the lining (peritoneum) of the abdomen (peritoneal mesothelioma ). Symptoms including breathlessness and experiencing pain during breathing. Cases of mesothelioma can take up to 40 years to develop and show symptoms.

Mesothelioma and working with Asbestos
Mesothelioma is most often contracted by individuals who experienced exposure to asbestos dust during their working lives. Mesothelioma is almost exclusively linked with exposure to asbestos, even if exposure was not direct or was at a relatively low level.

Due to the regular exposure to asbestos in their everyday working environment and activities, joiners, builders, carpenters, electricians, car mechanics, plumbers and other construction based workers have often contracted the disease later on in their lives.

What level of compensation can I expect to receive?
If your mesothelioma compensation claim is successful, you will receive compensation for pain and suffering relating to your illness. The courts have recently set a guideline compensation level of £45,000 - £70,000 for mesothelioma claims.

In addition to this, you may also be entitled to claim for other financial losses or expenses including loss of earnings, future loss of earnings, loss of pension entitlement, past and future private treatment fees, medication costs, care costs, aids and appliances and travelling expenses.

Pannone's mesothelioma solicitors have helped sufferers of mesothelioma and their families to claim the compensation they deserve. Recent case wins for mesothelioma compensation clams include:

Mrs Scoble: Won £215,000 for the death of her husband from asbestos related mesothelioma contracted whilst working as a carpenter making scenery for the film industry.

Advice on claiming compensation for Mesothelioma
If you suspect that you may have Mesothelioma, it is essential that you seek medical advice and attention immediately, especially if you have knowledge of exposure with asbestos in the past. If you have already been diagnosed with mesothelioma or any asbestos related disease, it is vital that you contact a solicitor who specialises in asbestos related compensation claims at the earliest possible opportunity.

Pannone's mesothelioma solicitors have many years of experience working with clients to obtain the compensation they deserve for the pain and suffering they have experienced during their illness. As mesothelioma is a terminal illness which is largely untreatable, the settlement amount should also take this into account.
