What is Dermatitis?
Can I claim compensation for my skin condition?
What level of compensation can I expect to receive?
Why should I choose Pannone LLP to act for me?

What is Dermatitis?
Dermatitis (or eczema) is commonly associated with direct exposure to chemical, biological or physical agents. There are two types of dermatitis – Irritant Contact Dermatitis (ICD) and Allergic Contact Dermatitis (ACD), both of which present in swelling, blistering and flaking of the skin, sometimes subsequently resulting in severe itching, bleeding or puss formation.

Dermatitis can be caused by contact with chemicals, prolonged periods of contact with water, biological agents from plants or fungi, physical agents such as vibration or radiation or mechanical abrasion.

Can I claim compensation for my skin condition?
Many of the agents associated with dermatitis or eczema are encountered in the workplace due to the nature of certain occupations. The industries in which work related dermatitis are most common include the health sector, agriculture, food processing/catering, cleaning, printing and engineering.

As with any compensation claim for work related illnesses, the key to making a successful claim is proving that someone else is to blame for causing your condition. Providing that this can be achieved, you should be able to claim compensation for pain and suffering and any further consequences your dermatitis has had on your life or your finances.

What level of compensation can I expect to receive?
The amount of compensation you might be entitled to depends on the severity of your condition and the amount of suffering you have experienced. If your claim is successful, you may also be entitled to claim for expenses and costs relating to your illness, such as medical costs or travel expenses.

We have recently won the following compensation for clients suffering from work related dermatitis:

Hartlepool man – full body dermatitis £300,000 compensation
