Inheritance Act ClaimsWe are one of the few family law departments in the north west of England who specialise in bringing claims under the Inheritance Act. Under this Act, a claim can be made against a deceased person's estate if inadequate financial provision has been made. The most likely people to bring claims against a deceased's estate under the Inheritance Act are spouses, former spouses, civil partners, former civil partners, children of the deceased and cohabitees. This is a highly technical area of the law and we are able to give clear advice at the outset regarding the prospect of challenging a Will or bringing a claim against an estate. Claims may only be brought under the Inheritance Act within a very short period after a death. In order to bring a claim, it is necessary for a person to fall into a specific category (for example, a surviving spouse or civil partner) or to show that they were dependent upon the deceased immediately before their death. We have experience of bringing claims under the Inheritance Act where the deceased's estate has been worth many millions of pounds and we have secured excellent settlements for claimants. For a consultation with a Family Law Solicitor or a Divorce Lawyer call 0844 980 1428 or send us an email. We are available to take your call twenty four hours a day, seven days a week. |
