Divorce: reaching a financial settlement without involving the courts

Typically a financial settlement is reached without the need to involve the courts. For advice on reaching a settlement without going to court please call 0800 840 4929.

This makes the process a much easier, far less stressful method of reaching an agreement regarding the future finances of both parties. With the help of a divorce law solicitor the individuals involved discuss child support, spousal maintenance and division of assets and pensions, with the intention of reaching a settlement which is agreeable to both parties. Those discussions can be held either directly between the individuals, or otherwise, by negotiating through solicitors. If an agreement cannot be reached voluntarily, an application can be made to the family courts.

For detailed information about the options available to you to reach a financial settlement see our how to reach a settlement on divorce section.

If you are struggling to reach an amicable agreement regarding financial issues surrounding your divorce, contact an experienced divorce solicitor as soon as possible.

Our team has extensive experience of overseeing financial settlements on divorce, and can help you ensure that a mutually beneficial conclusion is reached, whether through use of mediation and negotiation or the family law courts.
