Public / Private partnerships and PFI

We have advised the public sector on a variety of public / private partnership arrangements and privately financed projects. These include large scale infrastructure projects and usually entail putting in place complex and bespoke contractual arrangements to ensure the safeguarding of public sector objectives. Examples of our work include:

  • Advising on the transfer to a Leisure Trust of a major local authority leisure and educational facility and the financing of a £20m refurbishment of that facility
  • Advising a Passenger Transport Executive on its award of a concession agreement for the £130 million privately financed construction of an extension to an existing light rail system. Following the success of this project we have advised the Executive on the procurement of further proposed extensions on a PFI basis, with a contract value of well in excess of £500 million.
