Tax

Members of the Commercial Litigation team, often in close conjunction with members of the firm's Regulatory department, have wide experience in advising clients on a whole host of taxation related problems and disputes. This includes substantial experience in acting for clients in relation to alleged MTIC fraud, disputes with HM Revenue & Customs, professional negligence claims in relation to tax advice and personal and corporate insolvency issues arising from taxation matters.

Our experience

Our experience includes:

  • Acting for a major dealer in computer components in a high profile and complex dispute with HM Revenue & Customs. The dispute related to alleged VAT carousel fraud and following a successful reference to the European Court of Justice regarding a defined term in VAT legislation, we have dealt with substantial arguments relating to damages, interest, repayment, supplements and the correct accounting treatment of the sums due.
