Injury following cataract surgery claim | £75,000 settlement
A tear during cataract surgery left our client with loss of vision in her left eye
Our client, Mrs J, from Northwest London, suffered an endothelial tear during cataract surgery on her left eye at Moorfields Eye Hospital in Central London. Mrs J instructed us to investigate a medical negligence claim arising from her injury.
As a result of the negligent hospital care Mrs J was left with loss of vision in her left eye. Her visual difficulties made it particularly difficult for her to travel to see friends and family in South London. Mrs J also suffered from a cataract in her right eye but, as a result of the negligent medical treatment that she received at Moorfields Eye Hospital, she was unwilling to undergo any further surgery leaving a poor prognosis for her right eye.
Our experienced medical negligence solicitors advised Mrs J of her options throughout the claim and secured a settlement of £75,000. Mrs J was compensated for her injuries, the resultant financial losses and her future care and travel needs.

Failure to diagnose glaucomatous material in eye and operating on wrong eye
Our client was diagnosed with glaucoma but following treatment she was advised to discontinue anti glaucoma medication. She developed glaucomatous material in her right eye which was not diagnosed for two years.
When it was diagnosed the surgeon then operated on the wrong eye. As a result of the operation Mrs A sustained an intraocular haemorrhage in her left eye and then had to undergo surgery to her right eye to correct the original problem. The claim settled for £12,500.
