Community Care

About community care
We know just how much your life can change when you have been involved in an accident or been diagnosed with an illness. You may need care and support to enable you to cope better with difficulties in your day to day life and need a good deal more help than you ever did before.
You may need adaptations to your home or equipment at home, such as an accessible shower, a stair lift, a ramp or grab rails, which will make day to day tasks easier to deal with.
Your local authority social services department have a legal duty to assess your need for care and support services, including adaptations to your home and the provision of equipment, if you may need such help.
Social services also have a legal duty to provide whatever care and support, including adaptations and equipment, to enable you to deal with day to day difficulties, such as personal care and mobility problems.
Social services also have a legal duty to assess a carer’s needs if, for example, they are providing a high level of care for you.
