Being diagnosed with an asbestos related illness can be devastating and be a big worry to you and your family.

Social Services

If you think you need extra help you should contact social services who will assess your circumstances and may be able to provide you with suitable equipment and aids to assist you at home. 

Your GP or treating consultant should be able to put you in contact with your local social services department or you can check on your local council’s website for their contact details.

Asbestos Charities and Support Groups

Support groups such as the Greater Manchester Asbestos Victims Support Group, the Merseyside Asbestos Victim Support Group, the Cheshire Asbestos Victim Support Group and BARDS can also provide help, support and information.

The Red Cross can help you obtain specialist equipment such as wheelchairs, commodes and bath seats.
