UK tourists who have booked a traditional package holiday will be protected by the powerful consumer legislation of the Package Travel Regulations 1992. This EU legislation makes it possible for the consumer to bring their claim against the company that sold them the holiday. This means that they can avoid the daunting process of making a claim under a foreign legal system. In effect, the holiday company will become liable for the faults of the suppliers and this will include all aspects of the holiday package (hotel, food, transfers, etc). This will be the case even if the supplier is a different company altogether based abroad.
