Health & Social Care Support

We act for many clients who have suffered an injury and now require a degree of support in relation to their daily living needs.

Needing to be cared for and assisted with daily living can be stressful for the client and their family as it often leads to support being provided in the family home.  We are acutely aware that this can feel like an intrusion and a feeling that ‘this is no longer our home’. Employing the right care and support and building a good team can make all the difference in enabling a client to reach their potential and enjoy their life to the full.

Our Court of Protection care team provide support with this ethos to a large number of deputyship and trust clients.

How can our Court of Protection care team help?

The Court of Protection care team is made up of experienced legal and non legal staff who can provide support in a variety of ways.  We understand that every client is a unique individual and there is no ‘one size fits all’ solution.  We have therefore found a number of potential solutions to cater for a diverse audience.

Some examples of these are:

  • empowering the individual to identify, recruit and employ their own staff directly via their appointed deputy or trustees.  This is the most frequently requested solution by our clients and families as they feel it allows them to be in charge and retain control of matters
  • help the client to find a domiciliary care agency to provide a care solution for them.  We have extensive contacts with a variety of Care Quality Commission registered agencies across the country.  The team can support the client to choose the right agency for them on the basis of our experiences working with the relevant people on other client’s packages
  • where support is provided by family members it is possible to arrange a gratuitous care payment in certain circumstances.  This would be relevant where the family member does not intend to enter into an employed role but provides a large degree of support to the client.  The gratuitous care payments are treated as being exempt for tax and national insurances purposes provided an application is made to the Inland Revenue for approval.  We can support you with this process and have already supported numerous clients in this regard with great success
  • residential care is normally seen as a last resort for most clients and their families but on occasion it is identified as the most suitable alternative.  If by their own choice the client and their family identify this as the solution, the team also has extensive knowledge and contacts to support them

There are also other services that the team can offer which are associated with the support needs of the clients including:

  • a complete payroll solution operated by experienced individuals in the field at competitive rates
  • close contacts with other professionals providing training solutions from support staff and can assist if you have any needs in this area
  • if the client requires support it may be possible to obtain some help with the funding for the same from either the Local Authority or Primary Care Trust.  We have extensive expertise and a proven track record in accessing these funding streams for clients
  • we also have a wide network of case management contacts, occupational therapists, neuropsychologists and numerous other related professionals

What makes us different?

The Court of Protection care team are all experienced professionals who have operated within the sector for a number of years.  We have a wealth of knowledge and a great track record in supporting our clients to successful outcomes.

A great deal of emphasis is placed upon the individual client and the service is tailored to their specific needs.  The solutions we offer are provided from a solid legal footing and are also practical and sensitive solutions to achieve the client’s desired outcome.
