Injunctions

Family law - injunctions

When you separate from your spouse, circumstances may mean that you must take urgent steps to try and protect yourself.  Such protection takes many forms.

There are a number of practical steps which you can take and measures which you can put in place.  We have substantial experience in dealing with urgent situations on the breakdown of a relationship and can provide you with many practical tips and advice.

We can also help you to seek legal protection from the family courts.  Such protection takes two main forms:

  • protection from domestic abuse and violence. Such protection applies to (former) partners as much as it does to (former) spouses.  For further information about this, see our section on domestic violence

  • financial protection, to ensure that your husband or wife cannot transfer money or assets to a third party, or that any transfer which has recently taken place is set aside.  For further information about this, see our section on freezing assets

A related issue is what to do when you suspect that your spouse may have hidden assets, in an effort to frustrate your financial claims.  For further information about this, see our section on hidden assets.
