Third Party Funding

An alternative method of litigation funding is third party or professional litigation funding. This is where individuals or companies pay for some or all of the costs of your case in return for a share of any sum of money awarded in damages if you win.

The way in which the funding works depends on the individual funder but typically the money is not given as a loan and does not have to be repaid if you lose.

Again, under third party funding, you are sharing the financial risk with the funder in a similar way to our sharing the risk with you under the Advantage conditional fee agreement. Simply put, the funder foots the bill for your legal costs and expenses but, in return, takes a share of any sum awarded to you (typical returns can be as high as 40%) if you are successful.

We have relationships with various funders and can explore this option with you in detail.
