“The best in Manchester ….for climate change action. The “widely experienced, pragmatic and amiable team” has been increasingly active in advising clients on CRC matters and Green Leases”
Chambers UK Guide 2011
Low Carbon Economic Area
Keith Davidson is Lead Commissioner for Greater Manchester’s Low Carbon Economic Area for the Built Environment.
The 5 year programme will help create 38,000 low carbon jobs and make the Manchester City Region the UK hub for large retrofitting projects. The programme covers residential, commercial and public building retrofits, low carbon new developments, decentralised energy projects, low carbon skill programmes and developing finance mechanisms, such as PAYS and green mortgages. Since carbon emissions from buildings account for nearly 50% of the UK’s total emissions, the pioneering LCEA programme is of utmost importance to Greater Manchester, the UK and internationally.
Climate Change
The Pannone Environment & Energy team is at the forefront of climate change strategy in the North West.
We advised on the partnering arrangements to establish the North West Climate Fund, part of the NWDA’s Climate Change Action Plan
We were actively involved in the development of Manchester City Council’s Climate Change Action Plan, “Manchester – Our Certain Future” – one of the main pieces of work outside London on climate change mitigation
We are currently working with Richard Sharland Head of Environmental Strategy at Manchester City Council and other partners to develop a Climate Change Strategy for Greater Manchester.
Energy and Infrastructure
Our multi-disciplinary Energy and Infrastructure team provide a full range of legal services, for our clients in the renewables, nuclear and waste sectors:
- procurement
- property and planning
- corporate and structuring advice
- commercial and construction agreements
- environmental, health & safety and regulatory matters
- electricity and emissions trading
In addition to our market leading experience on waste to energy projects, we are pioneering the early work on solar PV projects to help our clients benefit from the Feed-in Tariff.
CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme
Despite the changes announced in the Comprehensive Spending Review, the CRC is here to stay and many organisations need to undertake legal checks:
- identifying the CRC group structure
- property assessment as to who is responsible for energy supplies
- joint venture and PPP arrangements
We provide a watching brief on the legislation and in-house workshops for public and private organisations including the North West Legal Consortium, DB Schenker and Manchester Science Park.
