Latest News July 2008: Hundreds Seeking Compensation for Food Poisoning After Staying at Hotels in Egypt.

Reports of illness at the five star LTI Grand Azure hotel in the Egyptian resort of Sharm-el-Sheikh are causing concern says travel law solicitor Andrew Morton at Manchester law firm Pannone LLP.

“This is a hotel there have been complaints about before” said Morton, who added, “On the face of it the hotel looks impressive but there are numerous complaints about food being left out for hours and as many as two out of every three guests suffering illness. A recent complaint concerns a group of nine British tourists who all fell ill.

“The complaints are spread over quite a long time, so it seems it is an ongoing problem. We are investigating complaints for a number of clients and if the stories are true, holidaymakers may well be able to claim compensation. If anyone is scheduled to go to the hotel it is worth contacting their travel agent to see what the latest position is. If they still go to the hotel and do fall ill, they should keep a record of the complaints they make to their tour operator and keep receipts of any medicines purchased. Photographic evidence of poor standards at the hotel is also useful.”
