What price fun in the sun?
The case of the little boy left brain damaged after an accident on a bouncy castle raises the question of all outside activities at this time of year as temperatures soar and we go outdoors to have fun in the sun. Richard Scorer, a specialist in serious injury at Pannone LLP says, “Of course we all want to enjoy ourselves in the sunshine, but common sense must prevail regarding safety. Children must be properly supervised, especially where potentially dangerous equipment like bouncy castles and trampolines are concerned. Barbeques too can be lethal. You wouldn’t let a child run around in a kitchen near a hot oven or stove and the same should apply when the barbeque is lit. The bouncy castle party hosts face a multi-million pound compensation claim and a Childs life has been tragically affected, all for the sake of a moment’s lack of supervision.”
