Dominican Republic Holiday Hotel Sickness Compensation Claims

18th July 2008

Personal injury solicitors are again handling no-win, no-fee compensation claims for British tourists who suffered from sickness and diarrhoea while staying at the Bahia Principe hotel in the Dominican Republic.

Travel law solicitor Andrew Morton said today, "We are receiving reports that a significant number of guests at the 940 room hotel are currently ill. Last year there were some 1500 complaints of sickness at the Bahia Principe hotel and all the evidence points to an epidemic of at least the same proportion this year.

We have also had literally hundreds of claims from other tourists who travelled to the Dominican Republic, a holiday destination which seems beset by problems caused by poor hygiene standards. The Riu group of hotels on the island seem to have been particularly affected."

If you or a member of your family suffered from the sickness bug at the Bahia Principe hotel in the Dominican Republic, and you would like to claim compensation on a no-win, no-fee basis, please contact Andrew Morton by calling Freephone 0800 0384 384 or by e-mail.

You pay nothing. You keep 100% of the compensation that you are awarded.

8th August 2007

Pannone's travel litigation solicitors are currently handling compensation claims on behalf of British tourists who suffered illness after staying at the Bahia Principe Hotel in the Dominican Republic.

An unconfirmed number of guests at the hotel suffered after an outbreak of sickness, vomiting and diarrhoea, many of the hotel guests had to be taken to hospital.

Senior travel and tourism lawyer Andrew Morton said, "We are already handling a number of compensation claims against tour operator Thomas Cook for people who fell ill after staying at the Bahia Principe hotel in the Dominican Republic. It appears that these holidaymakers may be suffering from the same bug that hit the hotel only two years ago."

Reports from holidaymakers suggest that guests are still being affected by illness and that they are "furious" at the way both Thomas Cook and First Choice, the other operator using the hotel, are dealing with their complaints.

Comments posted by hotel guests on the Internet include "hundreds of other guests were taken seriously ill with stomach upset. Most if not all ended up on drips in the local clinic and hospital" and "British tour operators are sending health and safety people out, because there are so many people ill."

Andrew Morton said "The good news is that holidaymakers seeking compensation have the benefit of powerful consumer legislation in the Package Travel Regulations 1992. These regulations entitle the people who suffered from sickness and ruined holidays to claim for compensation against the tour operator in the UK, under UK law."
