Richard is Head of the Corporate Recovery team, leading a team of eight specialist lawyers providing advice and support to insolvency practitioners, businesses, directors and individuals.
Richard specialises in non contentious insolvency, with particular expertise in administrations, sales and purchases of businesses in financial distress, and providing legal and practical guidance to directors, creditors, landlords, insolvency practitioners and other stakeholders.
Best career moment: Being part of the professional team that achieved the rescue of a major food company, which resulted in the preservation of several hundred jobs and the continuation of a viable business. This complex assignment involved working through the night over a weekend to transfer the business to a plc purchaser by 9am on Monday, failing which the company would have gone into liquidation.
Notable cases include:
- involvement in the administration of various football clubs, including Chester City, Wrexham, Leeds and Oldham
- acting on the bankruptcy of several high profile bankruptcies, including various Lloyd’s names, and the recovery of assets in foreign jurisdictions
- advising on the re-organisation and re-financing of a property group with a £500m portfolio
Richard is a frequent speaker on insolvency related issues, and has been interviewed on radio and television to provide commentary on business insolvencies.
Richard is a licensed insolvency practitioner and a Fellow of the Association of Business Recovery Professionals, and a member of the Insolvency Lawyers Association. He is considered a Leader in the Field of insolvency by Chambers UK Guide.
Richard was admitted as a solicitor in 1986. He became a Partner in 1988 and joined Pannone as a partner in 2001.
