Keith is Head of the Environment and Energy team at Pannone.

He is a Top Ranked individual for Environmental Law in the Chambers UK Guide 2011: ‘the best in Manchester for environmental issues and climate change action’.

Keith advises on all areas of environmental law, in particular, contaminated land, waste and low carbon projects. His clients include Groundwork, BASF, Chevron, DB Schenker and Evonik Degussa.

He has several years experience with Part 2A contaminated land proceedings and has been involved in land mark environmental insurance and regeneration projects. In April 2009, Keith was selected as an Environment Commissioner for Greater Manchester.

Best career moment: Moving to Manchester.

Notable matters include

  • acted in the first active transfer deal in the UK at a former Kodak photochemical plant. The ground breaking liability transfer allowed both Kodak and the purchaser to remove contaminated land liabilities from their accounting provisions
  • acting for BASF in the sale of the Seal Sands chemical site in Teesside to Ineos
  • merger of Eddie Stobart’s transport and logistics business with Westbury Property Fund
  • acting for Tradebe in the acquisition of the Fawley High Temperature Incinerator and several United Utilities industrial waste water plants
  • acting for DB Schenker and Chevron in contaminated land disputes against oil companies
  • asbestos and contaminated land advice in connection with the proposed regeneration of the former Turner & Newall / Federal Mogul site in Rochdale - the world’s largest asbestos textile factory
  • regeneration of the Co-op Quarter for Manchester City Council
  • advising a major utility company on the implications of the revised CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme

Dual qualified in Northern Ireland and England/Wales in 1995, Keith started his environmental career at Nabarros in London and obtained a masters degree in Environmental Law from the School of Oriental and African Studies at the University of London. He became a partner in 2002 and is a former council member for the United Kingdom Environmental Law Association.
