Ben is an Associate with the Family team having joined the firm in January 2008.

Ben specialises in family law and in particular financial settlements upon divorce, cohabitation issues, pre-nuptial agreements, civil partnership disputes, inheritance act claims, injunctions and children matters.

He acts for a wide range of clients including businessmen and women, sportsmen, actors and professionals.

He has secured multi-million pound settlements for clients.

Cases have included:

  • advising a client on issues relating to his children where the mother resided in South Africa and the father in England
  • advising a client in relation to a pre-nuptial agreement with a multi-million pound international asset base

Best career moment: I once secured a significant financial award for a client in a case where there was an issue in relation to the Proceeds of Crime Act following her husband’s fraudulent actions.

Ben is an active member of Resolution and attends the Annual National Conference.

Ben is a Resolution Accredited Specialist with particular specialism in Advanced Financial Provision and Domestic Abuse. Ben is a Resolution trained all issues mediator.

Ben trained as a collaborative lawyer in 2005 and has been involved in several cases. He promotes the collaborative process as it is transparent and enables parties to retain control of the process, minimising court involvement. He supports a multi-disciplinary framework to resolve the clients’ needs with the introduction of other experts including, amongst others, coaches and financial experts. He is a member of the Manchester Collaborative Law group ‘Separation Solutions’ which meets monthly.

Ben has also attended the Four Jurisdiction Annual Conference which is attended by lawyers from England and Wales, Scotland, Ireland and Northern Ireland learning more about the other jurisdictions.

Ben is an author for Lexis Professional Support Lawyer which is an online service from LexisNexis. He has also lectured internally.
