Amanda is a Partner in the Commercial team and is Head of Competition. 

Amanda specialises in commercial agreements, covering the drafting and negotiating of all commercial agreements and advising on the competition law impact, competition law compliance, price fixing and cartels, complaints to the competition authorities, co-operation agreements and joint ventures, mergers.  Amanda also has extensive experience of drafting competition policies and providing competition training to board members and senior management.

Amanda has experience in a diverse range of industries including oil (downstream and upstream), chemicals, alloys, cereals, transport and professional services.  Clients range from major international organisations to medium sized private companies.  Much of Amanda’s work has an international element.

She is named as a notable practitioner in both Chambers UK Guide and Legal 500 for EU and UK competition law.  Chambers UK Guide 2011 states that Amanda “is lauded by sources for her thorough preparation and for simplifying her advice so that clients can fully appreciate what needs to be done”.  In Legal 500 2010 it is stated that “Amanda Howlett is noted as knowledgeable and responsive”.

Best career moment: There have been many highlights but one of the most rewarding was when we got clearance of a merger making it all worthwhile that the client had attended the meeting at the Office of Fair Trading in a short break from his hospital bed.
