Law firm Pannone has announced the closure of its two satellite offices in the North West as it shifts its focus to expanding the London office.

The offices at Hale and Alderley Edge in Cheshire primarily offer residential conveyancing and family law services.  The closures will result in the loss of up to 12 posts which will be a mix of secretarial and fee earning roles.

Managing Partner Emma Holt said the decision is part of the firm's strategy to build on its strong Manchester presence, and grow the offices on Chancery Lane in a move to further enhance Pannone's national profile and its UK-wide reputation across a number of specialist areas.

She added that the firm is embarking on an ambitious recruitment drive of senior lawyers in the Capital across a number of disciplines.

Last month, Pannone announced the appointment of Corporate Partner Catherine McLoughlin in the London office to drive forward its life sciences practice across the UK.

Elsewhere, Clinical Negligence Partner Julianne Moore is relocating to London in a move that has boosted the presence of the firm's Serious Injury division in the Capital. Julianne will soon be joined by Steven Liddiard, formerly of the charity, Action against Medical Accidents, and other senior personal injury and clinical negligence lawyers.

Emma said:  "The decision to close the offices in Hale and Alderley Edge is based on our strategic plans to further enhance our national reputation across a wide range of disciplines and specialist niche areas. We believe that will be achieved by moving away from small local offices to expanding our presence in London.

"The closures will regrettably result in a number of redundancies across secretarial and fee-earning roles and we are working closely with the individuals concerned."

Pannone opened its London office in June 2010 as a base for its Regulatory and Corporate Crime team, headed by Anthony Barnfather. The move saw the appointment of partners Zia Ullah and Sara Teasdale. Pannone is now doubling the footprint of its office on Chancery Lane.
