Interest in disabled sport has rocketed since the Paralympics last summer. Paralympic athletes are thrilled with the effects the games have had on the nation’s outlook on disability.

Last month the Naidex South disability, homecare and rehabilitation event took place in London.  Paralympic basketball players Louise Sugden and Matt Byrne helped to make the day extra exciting by demonstrating their talents.  Louise told Healthcare news that she thinks the nation was ‘surprised’ by the strength and skills of the Paralympic competitors.  Matt added that the Paralympics showcased disabled athlete’s abilities rather than disabilities.

And it seems that the Paralympics have encouraged disabled people across the nation to investigate their sporting opportunities.  Grace Hinde from Parasport says that there has been a staggering 3000 per cent increase in visits to the Parasport website since the games.

It’s great to see that the success of the Paralympics is continuing to have an effect on – even months after the closing ceremony.
