The Daily Mail and the Liverpool Echo have reported on the successful personal injury claim of Sean Highdale, a former professional footballer who sadly suffered career ending injuries in a serious road traffic accident. Sean was represented by Catherine Leech of the Serious Injury team at Pannone.
Sean Highdale was seriously injured in a car accident near his home town of Liverpool in 2008, when he was just 17 years old. Tragically, two of Sean’s friends were killed in the crash and another suffered very serious head injuries.
At the time of the accident, Sean was captain of the Liverpool U18s team. He trained full time at the Liverpool FC Academy under a professional contract and had also represented England at U16s level.
Director of the Liverpool Academy Frank McParland describes Sean as "a fantastic player…his potential was right up there with the best."
Despite high hopes for Sean’s future football career, the serious injuries he suffered in his road traffic accident prematurely ended his football career, despite valiant attempts to rehabilitate.
By obtaining evidence from numerous lay and expert witnesses from the world of professional football, Pannone were able to achieve a successful settlement for Sean, which included compensation for loss of earnings. Sean’s former colleagues from Liverpool FC provided invaluable assistance with the case, as well as support for Sean along the long road to recovery. As Sean told the Liverpool Echo, "Liverpool FC were fantastic and helped me as much as possible in trying to get my career back on track after the accident."
We are thrilled to have achieved a successful settlement for Sean but of course no amount of money will ever make up for the death of his friends in the accident and loss of his football career.
