Criminal probe into death at North Staffordshire
Anyone who falls for the media bashing of lawyers who are apparently the cause of the increase in medical negligence claims would do well to consider the case Gillian Astbury whose death at Mid-Staffordshire Hospital is being investigated by the Health and Safety Executive.

‘Stillbirths in UK higher than almost every other nation’

Sands, a charity organisation offering help and support to those affected by stillbirth or neonatal death continue to raise awareness of this issue.

Sands, a charity organisation offering help and support to those affected by stillbirth or neonatal death continue to raise awareness of this issue.

11 babies are stillborn every day in the UK
According to Sands 11 babies are stillborn and 6 babies die soon after birth every day in the UK. That’s about one stillbirth in every 200 births, with one baby in every 300 dying at some point in the 4 weeks after the birth itself.

In the United Kingdom, the number of stillbirths in 2011 was higher than almost every other developed nation.

Stillbirths have a devastating effect on parents, families and friends. The deep grief can be overwhelming and parents describe feelings of anger, guilt and loss of confidence.

Tragic stillbirth at Leicester Royal Infirmary
The Leicester Mercury, reported recently about Ms Sara Proud, an expectant mother who was in labour. She arrived at Leicester Royal Infirmary, with her partner only to be told that the midwives were too busy for them to be moved into the labour ward.

Ms Proud gave birth in the hospital waiting room and was told that her baby had died. The couple have made a formal complaint about their ordeal, and now face the inevitable wait for the results of the post-mortem examination to find out when and why their baby died: all of this whilst trying to come to terms with their tragic loss.

Sadly, at Pannone Solicitors we see many cases involving stillbirth and injuries to mothers and babies that occur in childbirth. We have a team of specialist medical negligence solicitors who deal regularly with such cases with an exceptional level of expertise and the utmost sensitivity.  We take great care to provide our clients with the support they need to investigate the events and obtain answers.
