It has been reported today that despite discovering that her husband of 20 years had been having an affair, the Duchess of Rutland has agreed that they should both continue living under the same roof. Whilst this may sound strange, their roof does cover a grade 1 listed castle with over 100 rooms.

According to recent press reports, David Rutland, 53, was banished to one part of Belvoir Castle while his wife and their five children remained in wing at the other side of the property. Both the Duke and the Duchess have new partners and the Duchess has explained that the arrangements seem to be working well.

For most couples, continuing to live under the same roof following a divorce is not an option. Often, the family home is a couple’s main asset which may need to be sold in order for both people to be able to move on.
