The leader of the Rochdale child sex ring has now been named in the press as Shabir Ahmed, 59.

The publishing of his name as been possible due to a judge lifting the ban on the media identifying him.

Ahmed was one of 9 men convicted in May of the sexual abuse and grooming of girls in Rochdale between 2008 and 2010.
