Work of a Trainee in Dispute Resolution

The work of trainees in our Dispute Resolution team.

The Dispute Resolution team is one of the largest groups in the firm and has a broad range of expertise, with individual teams in the group having their own specialisms. Depending on the particular team to which you are allocated, as a trainee you will commonly find yourself involved in:

  • general commercial contractual disputes
  • intellectual property matters
  • landlord and tenant disputes
  • contentious probate issues

Trainees will get experience in a wide range of work, and an opportunity to develop skills which are transferrable to other seats, including drafting letters of advice to client, pleadings and witness statements, research, disclosure and correspondence.  Trainees also have numerous opportunities to develop their advocacy skills in this group by either attending hearings to take a note or conducting the hearing themselves.  Trainees may also conduct smaller matters on their own under the supervision of a member of their team which assists in developing skills of case management and client care.
