The work of trainees in our Court of Protection team
The Court of Protection team works with people who may lack the mental capacity to make various decisions about their property and affairs and/or their welfare.
As a trainee you will be required to:
- prepare applications to the Court of Protection for the appointment of a Deputy; permission to make statutory wills; and permission to make gifts.
- build strong relationships with clients and their families by attending client meetings and making telephone contact on a regular basis.
- prepare annual accounts to the Office of the Public Guardian.
- liaise with other healthcare professionals with regard to day to day decisions.
- instruct surveyors and arrange for adaptations to be carried out at clients’ properties.
- develop understanding of a wide area of law, including construction, conveyancing, personal injury and medical negligence.
