I read with some interest a couple of weeks ago an article in the Manchester Evening News about calls for an independent inquiry into Tameside Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, the Trust which runs Tameside General Hospital. A petition was set up seeking public support for such an investigation and 4 local MPs were reported to have said that they had lost confidence in the Hospital Trust’s management... 1 March 2010

As disturbing as the recent trend in young girls aspiring to plastic surgery (see blog 4.11.2009) is the increase in young men resorting to the use of anabolic steroids in a bid to achieve the perfect six-pack. 26 February 2010

An Independent Inquiry into failings of care at Mid Staffordshire Hospital published its findings today revealing that patients were “routinely neglected” whilst the Trust focused on cost cutting and targets to the detriment of basic patient care. 25 February 2010

The private inquiry set up by the Health Secretary Andy Burnham in July 2009 to inquire into the circumstances of patient care at the Mid Staffordshire NHS Foundation Trust between 2005 – 2009 has now reported its findings (link to the report here). 19 February 2010
