Here is some good news leading up to the festive season - academics have found that champagne is good for both the heart and brain. Scientists have discovered that champagne is packed with polyphenols, which is a plant chemical thought to widen the blood vessels, easing the strain on both organs. 17 December 2009

The annual Dr Foster Hospital Guide released this weekend has criticised NHS hospitals for serious failures in protecting patient safety. The report claims that 5,024 patients have died at hospitals across England despite being admitted with low-risk conditions such as asthma, viral infections and even haemorrhoids.
