Food Poisoning Claims

Food Poisoning Claims
Now that the school holidays have begun and the summer holiday season is upon us again, thousands of us will be looking forward to our well-earned annual break. Many of us are feeling the need to escape the gloomy economic climate for our week (or two) in the sunshine.
The last thing on the holidaymakers mind is the possibility of contracting food poisoning / gastric illness but from past experience illness outbreaks can occur in the nicest of resorts.
Over the past few years, Pannone solicitors have seen an increase in food poisoning outbreaks in Turkey, Bulgaria, Tunisia, Egypt, Spain, Dominican Republic, Cuba and even the Maldives. Food poisoning claims have been brought as a result of poor hygiene, undercooked poultry / meat / eggs as well as failings in relation to water supplies in resort. Common diagnoses include salmonella, shigella, cryptosporidium and e-coli.
If you are unfortunate enough to suffer food poisoning then in addition to seeking immediate medical treatment, report the illness to your representative (and get written confirmation from them that they are aware of the problem). It is always prudent to visit your GP on return home as underlying pathogens may remain undetected.
