Where an individual has suffered from sexual or physical assault as a child or an adult and whether this was a single assault or abuse over a period of time, it may be possible to sue for abuse and claim compensation.

If the assault or abuse occurred in residential care or within a particular establishment or organisation then the claim will usually be brought against the local authority or body responsible for the management of the establishment.
